A native of Alberta, Canada, Marvin completed a PhD in Counselling Psychology and went on to an academic career. At the University of British Columbia his research and practice focused on group-based approaches to help clients make effective life transitions. This led him to develop the Veterans Transition Program at the University where for 15 years he led the program to help promote recovery for veterans from war-related stress injuries. (See Veterans Transition Program under Projects). While continuing with the Veterans Transition Program, he and his team of researchers received a major three-year grant from Movember Canada for advancing the mental health of Canadian men and their families. After a lifetime of service to psychology developing and leading programs that have made a marked difference to the lives of many men and women, Marvin is Professor Emeritus of Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia
